The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has changed the rules for updating the name, gender, and date of birth in Aadhaar. UIDAI has now set a limit on updating its name, date of birth, and gender details in aadhaar card. UIDAI has already imposed restrictions on updating the date of birth. You can update it only once in the Aadhaar card. Here we are giving more information about these restrictions.
According to UIDAI’s office memorandum, aadhaar cardholder can now update his name on the Aadhaar card only twice.
The rules for updating the date of birth have been further tightened. As mentioned above, the date of birth in the Aadhaar card can only be updated once. Also, the date of birth recorded during Aadhaar enrolment will allow change in date of birth with a maximum range of three years (plus or minus). Similarly, the person presenting proof of date of birth at the time of enrolment client will be verified in UIDAI records. However, if a person does not have documentary proof for the date of birth at the time of enrolment, the date of birth in UIDAI will be recorded as ‘declared’ or ‘estimated.’ In the future, if this person wants to update his date of birth, he/she will have to give a documentary proof of his date of birth. Applications for change in date of birth will only be accepted once. After that, the person’s date of birth was declared/declared. Will change from estimated to Verified. This can only be done on submission of relevant documentary evidence. People who already have a record as ‘verified’ will not be allowed to change their date of birth.
Aadhaar card has a limit on the number of updating genders. According to the memorandum, the gender description can only be updated once. The name, gender, or date of birth in aadhaar card higher than the fixed number can only be updated through the exception maintenance process. For this, the Aadhaar cardholder may need to go to the regional office of UIDAI. If the name, date of birth, and gender are to be updated beyond the prescribed limit, the procedure is as follows:
1. Aadhaar enrolment client/date of birth to update the person’s name, date of birth, or gender. You’ll have to visit the Update Center.
2. Since the update is a non-fixed number. Therefore, the person will need to send a request to the regional office of UIDAI to accept the updates made at the Enrolment Client Centre via email or post. The person must explain why such an application should be allowed. Email must be sent to email@example.com. Remember, there is no need to go to the office unless specifically asked to come to the regional office.
3. The local office will find out if the request for updates is genuine. The local office may ask for additional information from the person or make field investigation if required.
