Kicking off its campaign for the Lok Sabha elections, the Aam Aadmi Party on Monday appealed to Delhiites to vote out the seven BJP MPs of Delhi and strengthen the party and its chief, Chief Minister Kejriwal.
At the inauguration of the party’s East Delhi constituency office in Laxmi Nagar, party leaders made it clear that they were seeking support for AAP East Delhi incharge, Atishi Marlena, though her official candidature was not announced. In his speech, AAP Delhi convenor Gopal Rai said ‘Atishi ko jeetana hai [we have to make Atishi win’.
‘This is not only the AAP office, but this will be the office of the East Delhi MP from 2019,’ Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Manish Sisodia said.
The party, which lost out to the BJP in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls in Delhi but won the 2015 Delhi Assembly elections, appealed to Delhiites to vote based on the record of the BJP MPs vis-a-vis the AAP government.
